The standalone Harley movie just took a big step forward to actually getting made — and we might have just got confirmation about the DC heroines who’ll be joining her in it.
The Wrap reports that Christina Hodson has been tapped to write a Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey movie. It’s a busy time for Hodson, whose script was chosen for the solo Bumblebee film spinning out of the Transformers franchise today, alongside the release of the horror movie she penned, Shut In.
We still don’t know much about the film, other than the fact that Margot Robbie will reprise her Suicide Squad role and also co-produce the film, but the Wrap’s report seems to indicate that Warner Bros. has narrowed down its goals to include a variety of female DC characters to primarily feature the Birds of Prey alongside Harley. In the comics, the Birds of Prey are an all-female crimefighting group that most famously features Black Canary, Huntress and Barbara Gordon (both as Batgirl and as Oracle), but has featured a whole host of other female heroes over the years.
Warner Bros. has yet to actually officially confirm the project, but we’ll bring you more on the Harley movie as and when we learn it.
