Almost everyone grew up with Disney’s animated films. Heck, even our parents grew up with Disney animated films. Since the 1930s, Walt Disney and his not-so-little company have been churning out cartoon movie masterpieces for the whole family to enjoy, and this week, Mondo is celebrating all eight decades with one of its famous, always impressive gallery event.
A new Alice in Wonderland poster by Tom Whalen for Never Grow Up: A Disney Art Show. All Images: Mondo/Cyclops
It’s called Never Grow Up: A Disney Art Show, presented by Mondo and Cyclops Print Works, and the show opens on April 28 at the Mondo Gallery in Austin, Texas. Never Grow Up features brand new limited posters from films of all eras of Disney by a ton of artists and we’re excited to debut two and showcase a bunch more. Our first reveal is a double-sided, reversible Alice in Wonderland poster by Tom Whalen:
Mondo X Cyclops Print Works Print #13
And here’s the back (not that you’d display the back but, it’s cool to know it’s there):
Our next debut is an especially cool Mary Poppins by Marc Aspinall:
Mondo X Cyclops Print Works Print #16
Both of those pieces, as well as everything below, will first be on sale at the opening and leftovers may make it online in the weeks to follow. Here are a few others pieces from the show!
Aladdin by Matt Taylor
101 Dalmatians by Jonathan Burton
Pinocchio by Jessica Seamans
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by James Flames
Lilo and Stitch by Rosemary Valero-O’Connell
Fantasia by Becky Cloonan
The Little Mermaid by Nicolas Delort
Bambi by Laurent Durieux
The Fox and the Hound by Teagan White
Big Hero 6 by Ken Taylor
Much like the movies themselves, each artist has given the property a unique spin. Some of the images are instantly recognisable. Others need a minute to sink in. But all of them take your favourite Disney films, no matter what your age, and shine a new light on why they mean so much to us.
