Valerian & the City of a Thousand Planets

Luc Besson revealed to Screen Daily the film has already recouped 96 per cent of its budget in pre-sales.

Like every film company, we will only greenlight a project if at least 80% of its budget is covered. With ‘Valerian,’ we’ve covered 96% of the budget with pre-sales….The risk to EuropaCorp is 4% of the budget so there’s no actual financial risk. The risk for the company is more one of notoriety. If the film is a big flop, we’ll lose credibility for making these sorts of films. The risk is not financial, but rather human.

Avengers: Infinity War/Avengers 4

While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Chadwick Bosemen stated there would be no huge roster change between Infinity War and Avengers 4.

No. No new characters. All the same ones.

Mark Ruffalo also shared this selfie of himself with Robert Downey Jr, in which the duo pretend to look at something off camera.

The list also states Michael Mando is playing Mac Gargan, AKA The Scorpion, while Donald Glover plays Aaron Davis, the civilian identity of the Prowler. The cast list also confirm Gwyneth Paltrow reprises her role as Pepper Potts for a cameo.

Silver & Black/Venom

Fandango’s Erik Davis has confirmed Sony’s slate of Spider-Man adjacent films are not set in the MCU after all, as a clarification from Pascal’s earlier comments that the movies would be part of the universe.

Ant-Man & The Wasp

Director Peyton Reed revealed on Twitter that Christophe Beck is returning to score the film.

Justice League

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Smash & Grab

David Lally of Pixar shared some production artwork from Smash & Grab, the first project of the animation studio’s “experimental story program”.

Rick & Morty

In a lengthy Twitter thread, Dan Harmon addressed fan concerns about the production status of season three.

Justin [Roiland] and I are very regretful about the season taking way too long. I want to explain ‘what happened’ because it’s way less dramatic than you might ever imagine. Post internet TV audiences are so used to finding out there’s an intriguing/confusing/intense reason 4 delays … and Christ knows if you’ve ever seen MY name on the internet I’ve only got myself to blame for an association with intrigue/confusion/drama. But the truth in this case is so very boring. The reason S3 took long is because it took long to write, because it was S3 of a show that we were scared to make worse than S2 or S1. It’s a common yet odd phenomenon. But don’t worry about the content, because, the reason overthought slows you down is, you just do way more versions of stuff than needed. You usually end up back where you started. So as far as I can tell, although I’m too close to it, it’s just another good season of [Rick and Morty]… That’s it. Boring answer.

Nightflyers

Syfy has ordered a pilot based on George R.R. Martin’s spaceship horror novella, which was previously adapted into a 1987 movie. [THR]

Jessica Jones

Jessica Jones gets several hundred dollars from an ATM in this new crop of photos from the set of season two. Jones’ Rolling Stones jacket and the recent vintage of the ATM itself has some speculating the scene was filmed for a flashback sequence.

In the one photo she appears, Trish also looks like she’s ready for the red carpet, bedecked in a golden tassel dress, so maybe she’s still transitioning from her It’s Patsy period.

The Mist

Shorunner Christian Torpe told /Film the series was pitched as “Ingrid Berman’s Jaws“.

We went out and pitched as Ingmar Bergman’s Jaws, which was a joke, of course, but there’s still some truth to the extent that we are less concerned about the shark and more concerned about how people react to the shark. So we did sort of dial it slightly towards more psychological drama and horror than the monster movie homage that was in the original movie.

Killjoys

Variety has a clip from the June 30 US season premiere (returning in Australia on July 2 on Syfy).
