Drone Rescues Two Teens Stuck In Surf At Lennox Head

Incredible footage has emerged online today of a drone helping to rescue two teenagers who were stuck in wild surf conditions off Lennox Head this morning.

The raw drone footage, which was posted to DropBox by user Ben Trollope, shows the drone scanning the surf before happening across the two teenagers.

The footage shows the drone scanning the beach for trouble.

Only a few seconds later, the drone spots the two teenagers in trouble, well off the coast.

The drone moves in, positioning itself over the top of the two floating teens. One raises their hand in the air to signal they’re in trouble.

The drone then releases a flotation device that bursts open when it hits the water, inflating itself.

The teens grab a hold of the device as the waves continue to pummel them. A large wave manages to knock one of the teens off the device, but they’re able to swim back to it before heading inland.

Frankly, without this drone being in the sky at that very moment, these two would’ve been in massive trouble. But, thanks to the tech and the quick thinking of the drone pilot, these two will live to surf another day. Great stuff.
