The Nokia 8.1 Is Actually A Mid-Range Phone

Earlier today HMD Global announced the Nokia 8.1 for Australia.

But don’t be fooled by the name. It may sound like an update of last year’s flagship Nokia 8 Sirocco, but it isn’t. What we’re actually looking at here is a new mid-range offering from the veteran phone manufacturer.

Yeah, it’s a pretty confusing.

The 8.1 doesn’t get near the Sirocco’s specs, despite the name. And this makes sense considering the difference in price points.

It has a 6.18-inch FHD+ display with dual 13MP/12MP cameras, as well as a 20MP front-facing camera. Down in the guts you’ll find a Snapdragon 710 processors, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

You can view the full list of specs here:

The Nokia 8.1 will be available in two colours – Blue/Silver and Steel Copper. It’s launching on February 21 at JB Hi-Fi and Officeworks and will have an RRP of $699.
