Magic: The Gathering Is Getting a Huge Marvel Crossover

Wizards of the Coast is assembling its franchise heroes, and Marvel is next to join up with Magic: The Gathering. As part of a deepening collaboration with parent company Hasbro, the publisher “will develop collectible products” based around the characters of Marvel Comics for Magic. You can expect these to land on gaming shelves globally, starting in 2025.

Trading cards have always been a part of Marvel’s DNA, so this collaboration takes that experience to a whole new level,” said Dan Buckley, President of Marvel Comics and Franchise in a press release. “With the depth that our storytelling and characters bring to the table, we can’t wait for fans to see how the Marvel Universe translates seamlessly into gameplay within these Magic: The Gathering products and sets for years to come.”

This crossover will be released as part of the Universe Beyond product set from Magic, where Wizards now places its crossover series like the recent Doctor Who card set or Tales of Middle-Earth, the Lord of the Rings collaboration from earlier this year. But really, that’s all we know so far. Wizards has yet to confirm if the collaboration will stick to decks for the Commander Format (as Doctor Who did), or will flesh out into wider, standalone sets for Magic as well akin to Tales of Middle-Earth.

We’ll bring you more on Magic’s plans for the Marvel universe as and when we learn them, but to learn more about the collaboration visit Magic.wizards.com or Marvel.com.
