MORNING SPOILERS: Updates From Deadpool 3, Rick & Morty, and More

Jason Blum wants the Spawn movie to feel like a Blumhouse production. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey director Rhys Frake-Waterfield teases the even bigger deaths of the sequel. Plus, the co-existence of Godzilla Minus One and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters gives us not one, but two Big G poster debuts. Spoilers, away!

Rabbit Trap

Deadline reports filming has wrapped on Rabbit Trap, the next horror film from Elijah Wood and Daniel Noah’s SpectreVision said to “artfully fuse the world of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop with authentic Celtic Faerie lore.” Starring Dev Patel, Rosy McEwen and Jade Croot, the story is set in 1973 and concerns “married musicians Daphne and Darcy Davenport, who have relocated from London to an isolated cabin in Wales in order to complete their new record. When they accidentally make a field recording of a mystical sound never before heard by human ears, a strange child enters their lives who gradually untethers them from reality. The couple soon find themselves caught between the ancient spirits of the natural world and the lives they once knew.”

Whistle

Deadline also reports Dafne Keen (Logan), Sophie Nélisse (Yellowjackets), Sky Yang (Rebel Moon), Percy Hynes White (Wednesday) and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead) will star in Whistle, the latest horror film from The Nun director, Corin Hardy. Based on a script by Owen Egerton, the story follows “a misfit group of unwitting high school students” who stumble upon a cursed object— an ancient Aztec Death Whistle. They discover that blowing the whistle and the terrifying sound it emits will summon their future deaths to hunt them down. As the body count rises, the friends investigate the origins of the deadly artifact in a desperate effort to stop the horrifying chain of events that they have set in motion.”

Deadpool 3

During his recent appearance on Sirius XM’s Jess Cagle Show, Shawn Levy admitted “a lot of the internet [casting] rumors [surrounding Deadpool 3] are completely false, but some of them aren’t.”

I love the proliferation of casting rumors on the internet, because I never have to say what’s real and what’s fantasy, so I’m just going to go with the very cliche ‘no comment’ on all things casting [with] Deadpool 3. I will say, we’re lucky on this one. There’s certainly — is this an answer? A lot of the internet rumors are completely false, but some of them aren’t.

Spawn

In conversation with Bleeding Cool News, Jason Blum stated the new Spawn will “feel like the Blumhouse version of a superhero movie.”

Yes, I’m going to bring the Blumhouse edge [to the Spawn movie]. It’s going to be edgy and original as compared to other superhero movies. It’s gonna definitely feel like the Blumhouse version of a superhero movie.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, Part II

In conversation with Variety, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey director Rhys Frake-Waterfield stated his “stepped up” sequel contains “over 30 [character] deaths.”

In comparison to the first film everything’s stepped up massively. It’s a horror film. A lot of the times people are going there for the death scenes and for those elements and we’ve really upped the ante. I think the last time I did a count there was over 30 deaths in the movie, which is quite substantial compared to most movies. I think that’s at least over three times what the first film had and there’s various massacres and stuff. So there’s a lot of blood and a lot of gore.
